The Township makes all purchases in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey i.e. Local Public Contract Laws N.J.S.A. 40A:11 et. seq. The fact that you are a resident, pay taxes, or your business is located in the Township does not qualify you for preferential, preferred or special treatment. The state laws are devised for ethical purchasing, preventing preferential preferred or special treatment of vendors and to ensure that tax dollars are spent accordingly with no strings attached. Purchasing Agents violating this law are subject to prison time, fines, removal from office not to mentioned the loss of ones career and reputation, legal fees, financial hardship, negative publicity, embarrassment, and ultimately a new job search. Please don’t ask for special treatment or offer gifts or gratuities.
