Senior Center

The Brick Township Senior Outreach Services Center offers a variety of programs, activities and services to older adultsThe Senior Center also offers assistance in accessing State, Federal and Township programs. The mission of Senior Outreach Services is to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents by improving access to health, education, social and supportive services thereby helping them live with dignity and independence.
 

The Senior Center provides Meals-On-Wheels evaluation and referral, transportation to physicians’ offices, social/recreational events, educational seminars and health screenings.   Community Services Incorporated offers congregate meals in the adjacent hall. To order a meal you simply call the nutrition site 24 hours in advance.

Senior Outreach Services Staff is available to assist with Federal, State, and County programs such as Social Security, Veterans Affairs, and PAAD-Lifeline Credit. Senior Outreach Services has developed and implemented unique programs designed to enhance the quality of life for senior residents. Some of these programs include Surf Fishing at one of Brick Township’s beaches, Tai Chi, newly released movies, line dancing, and ballroom dancing, chair aerobics for people sixty years and over.
 

The Senior Center is particularly proud of their medical alert program, Project Ice Box. The program is available to all Brick residents age 60 and over. Participants in this program will receive a vinyl pouch designed to contain an individualized medical history as well as prescription and non-prescription drug records. The pouch has a magnetic strip that holds to the person’s refrigerator for easy and convenient access for family members, friends, and emergency response personnel.
 

The Senior Outreach program also provides Caregiver Information and Assistance. This program is available to uncompensated individuals who are caring for a senior age 60 or over. Available information on the following services include programs such as, nutrition, transportation, adult day care, social programs, in-home services, community support groups, and respite care.
A monthly calendar of events and a comprehensive booklet outlining all of the available services and programs is available by calling the Brick Township Senior Outreach Services Center at 732-920-8686.

Senior Center Director Debra Welty
Debra WeltyBrick Township Senior Outreach Services Center Director, Debra Welty has over 19 years of service in government. Ms. Welty is a graduate of Jersey City Univ. She is a member of the New Jersey Association of Senior Center Directors (NJASCD) the Elder Abuse Task Force of Ocean County and the Older Adults Traffic Safety Task Force of Ocean County. Ms. Welty holds certificates from Rutgers School of Social Work in Gerontology, Senior Center Management, Volunteer Management, and Human Resources Mgmt.
