On July 1, 1997, the State of New Jersey enacted legislation that set forth the Work First New Jersey program. Work First New Jersey transformed the design and purpose of the Welfare system in New Jersey. This legislation provided municipalities with the option of assigning responsibility for the administration of Municipal General Assistance programs to County agencies. After careful review and consideration, our municipality has decided to pursue this option. Effective July 1, 2007 administration of our General Assistance program will become the responsibility of the Ocean County Board of Social Services. Please be assured that this transition will not result in an interruption of benefits to the residents of BrickTownship.
Effective July 1, 2007, anyone seeking general assistance may contact the Ocean County Board of Social Services at 1027 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08754-0547 or call 732-349-1500 and ask to speak to an eligibility worker.
