NPP
What is Neighborhood Preservation Program?
In 1999, the Township of Brick applied to the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs for the inclusion of the Chambers Bridge Corridor in their Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP). Originally dubbed “Vision 2001,” the Township’s proposal sought to revitalize the neighborhoods and businesses along the Chambers Bridge Corridor from Route 70 to the Lakewood border. State officials agreed with the Township’s vision for this area and accepted the area into the program at a ceremony held in late April 1999. Brick Township was one of only fourteen municipalities and the only one from Ocean County to be accepted into the NPP.

The Neighborhood Preservation Program (NPP) is administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs's Division of Housing and Community Resources. NPP provides state grant funding to municipalities to establish partnerships with residents and businesses to re-vitalize and re-develop threatened neighborhoods.

Over the course of the five years of the program, the Township will receive over $525,000 to re-develop the targeted neighborhoods. This program is not simply about grants. It is a partnership between the residents, businesses, the Township and the State government to revitalize and improve the Corridor. The grant money is being complemented by other funding sources to help residents improve their homes and neighborhoods.
