The Office of Land Use Management is responsible for making sure that development within Brick Township is completed in a responsible and well-ordered manner. To better perform this task, the Office of Land Use Management works closely with various other Township offices that oversee development within the community such as the Planning Board, Board of Adjustment, Zoning Office and Building Department.
The Office of Land Use Management plays a vital role in Brick Township’s Open space Acquisition Program. The Office works closely with the Township’s administration to identify conservation areas within the community for acquisition and preservation for the Comprehensive Open Space Plan. Through this plan the Township has acquired more than 1,000 acres of Open Space which has led to the preservation of sensitive and valuable ecosystems as well as slowing down development which has led to less homes being built, less school children attending Township schools and less traffic traversing Township roads. The Office also works diligently to obtain funds to help offset the costs of Open Space purchases through programs such as the State’s Green Acres Program.
