The Department of Administration and Finance is responsible for the coordination, implementation and execution of the policies and priorities of the elected officials. The Township’s financial management team consists of Business Administrator Scott Pezarras, Supervisor of Accounts Colleen Lapp and Purchasing Agent Richard MacDonald. Together, the team has worked to make Brick Township one of the most financially sound municipalities in New Jersey.
Moody’s Investors Service has confidence in the Township’s fiscal strength by reassigning an A1 rating to Brick Township’s unlimited tax general obligation bonds. Moody’s also reassigned its highest rating (MIG-1) to the Township’s Bond Anticipation Notes. The experts at Moody’s look at the Township from an investor’s point of view and assign these ratings based on their belief that Brick Township is a financially solid municipality. These ratings allow Brick Township to receive lower interest rates when we need to borrow money for open space and capital improvements. This translates into savings on interest payments.
Business Administrator/CFO Scott M. Pezarras Scott M. Pezarras serves as Chief Financial Officer of Brick Township, and has over twenty (20) years of service in local government. All of Mr. Pezarras’ public service has been with Brick Township where he served as the Senior Assistant Assessor before his appointment as Chief Financial Officer in 1994. He is a graduate from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Business Administration. Mr. Pezarras’ major area of study was accounting with a minor in finance. Prior to his service with the Township he worked in operations for Merill Lynch, NY, NY. Mr. Pezarras is a State Certified Finance Officer, Tax Collector, and Tax Assessor. He has served as President of the Association of Municipal Assessors of Ocean County, and was selected by former Governor Whitman as a member of the Electric Deregulation Committee. He has appeared as a speaker on government issues before numerous civic groups and professional organizations.
