Effective, January 1, 2010, the Ocean County Clerk is no longer issuing ID's. because of the following:
Significant changes mandated by the federal government through the Department of Homeland Security require that government issued identification cards meet heightened security requirements or carry a disclaimer that they may not be used for official purposes.
In the past, the identification cards have been utilized as personal ID for a variety of purposes including the boarding of commercial aircraft for domestic flights.
Under the Real ID guidelines, the identification cards will no longer be accepted for boarding commercial aircraft or for entering federal facilities.
