What is the Treasurer? The Treasurer handles the day to day accounting operations including accounts receivable/payable for all Township funds. The Treasurer also develops debt structure and funding for all capital acquisitions, handles cash management issues including investments and cash flow, processes payroll for the 500+ Township employees, and lends support in developing the Township’s capital and operating budgets.
Chief Financial Officer Scott M. Pezarras Scott M. Pezarras serves as Chief Financial Officer of Brick Township, and has over twenty (20) years of service in local government. All of Mr. Pezarras’ public service has been with Brick Township where he served as the Senior Assistant Assessor before his appointment as Chief Financial Officer in 1994. He is a graduate from LaSalle University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a B.S. in Business Administration. Mr. Pezarras’ major area of study was accounting with a minor in finance. Prior to his service with the Township he worked in operations for Merill Lynch, NY, NY. Mr. Pezarras is a State Certified Finance Officer, Tax Collector, and Tax Assessor, and serves as the part-time Tax Assessor in Lavallette and Ocean Gate. He has served as President of the Association of Municipal Assessors of Ocean County, and was selected by former Governor Whitman as a member of the Electric Deregulation Committee. He has appeared as a speaker on government issues before numerous civic groups and professional organizations.
