The Township or "Municipal" Clerk is responsible for some of the most traditional and important functions of the municipal government. The Clerk serves as custodian of the Township Seal and is responsible for maintenance of all records, books, deeds, bonds, contracts and archival records of the municipality. The Clerk also serves as Secretary to the Township Council and maintains copies of all ordinances, resolutions and minutes.
Township Clerk Lynnette Iannarone
Lynnette Iannarone serves as the Township Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Township of Brick. She holds certifications from the State of New Jersey as a Registered Municipal Clerk (RMC) and a Certified Municipal Registrar (CMR). Mrs. Iannarone has been employed by the Township of Brick since 1996. She was appointed Assistant Municipal Clerk in 2004 and was appointed by the Township Council as Township Clerk on June 29, 2010.
Lynnette is a life-long resident of Brick Township, having only lived in North Carolina while her husband was on active duty with the United States Marines. She received her Associates Degree from Coastal Carolina Community College. She and her husband are proud to raise their three sons in Brick Township.

All meetings of the Council are open to the public with the exception of closed sessions. During such closed sessions, only the following items may be discussed:
Any matter which has been deemed confidential by express provisions of federal laws or state statutes or rules of court.
Any matter in which release of information would impair a right to receive funds from the United States Government.
Any material the disclosure of which constitutes an invasion of individual privacy as defined by the Open Public Meetings Act.
Any collective-bargaining agreement including the negotiations of terms and conditions thereof, with employees or representatives of employees of the Township of Brick.
Any matter involving the purchase, lease, or acquisition of real property with public funds, the set-ting of bank rates or the investment of public funds, where disclosure or discussion of such matters could adversely affect the public interest.
Any tactics and techniques utilized in protecting the safety and property of the public, provided that their disclosure could impair such protection and any investigation of violations or possible violations of the law.
Any pending or anticipated litigation or contract negotiation in which the Township may become a party and any matters falling within the attorney-client privilege to the extent that confidentiality is required in order for the attorney to exercise his/her ethical duties as a lawyer.
Any matter involving employment evaluation of the performance of, promotion or disciplining of any current or prospective public employee or officer, unless all the individual employees or appointees whose rights could be adversely affected request in writing that such matter or matters may be discussed at a public meeting.
Any deliberation after a public hearing that may result in the imposition of a specific civil penalty or the suspension or loss of license or permit.

The manner of addressing the Council:
Those wishing to speak should raise their hand and wait to be recognized. Upon recognition by the Chair, the person shall proceed to the floor and give his/her name and address in an audible tone of voice for the records. Unless further time is granted by the Council, he/she shall limit his/her statement to five (5) minutes. Statements shall be addressed to the Council as a body and not to any member thereof. No person, other than the Chair and the person having the floor, shall be permitted to enter into any discussion, without recognition by the Chair. Council Members shall not direct any question to the speaker addressing the Council, except through the Chair.
5. Personal and Slanderous Remarks:
Any person making personal, impertinent or slander-ous remarks, or who shall become boisterous, while addressing the Council, shall be forthwith, by the Chair, barred from further audience before the Council, unless permission to continue be granted by a majority of the Council.
Council Agenda Meeting Rules & Procedures
The Township Council conducts an agenda meeting which is a workshop session. Formal action may be taken at this meeting. The Council President is chairperson for the meeting. The public may not participate in the meeting. History & Organization of Brick Township
The Township of Brick was established in February of 1850. Since 1970, the Township has operated under the Mayor/Council Plan B form of government pursuant to the Optional Municipal Charter Law or “Faulkner Act”, Chapter 69A of Title 40 of the New Jersey Statutes.
The Mayor is the chief executive of the community and is elected by the people for a four year term at the regular gubernatorial election in November. The Mayor does not preside over nor does he/she have a vote on the Council. The Mayor does have veto power over ordinances, but a veto may be overridden by a 2/3rds vote by the Council.
The Township Council is the legislative body for the Township of Brick. Its seven members are elected for at-large four year terms. The Council’s duties include adopting all ordinances and municipal budgets, levying taxes, and making appropriations.
Order of Business
Copies of the agenda for each of the meetings are available at all meetings. Copies of ordinances which will have their public hearings are also available for the public and may be obtained from the Municipal Clerk’s Office. Agendas are prepared by the Office of the Municipal Clerk and are posted in the Lobby of the Municipal Building.
