The Brick Municipal Alliance Committee is composed of a committee of volunteers from the community, Township Coordinators and staff members who work collaboratively to plan and implement drug, alcohol and delinquency prevention programs in our community. Brick MAC is funded in part by the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse.
Programs coordinated by Brick MAC over the previous year include Parent/ Teen Resiliency Training, New Jersey Peer to Peer, an anti-smoking program, REBEL2, community seminars, Young Artist Development Program, KiteFest, Global Youth Service Day and numerous workshops and seminars. Brick MAC also cosponsors youth sports leagues with our Recreation Department.
The Brick Youth Club is a component of Brick MAC. Formed in 2002, the BYC provides BrickTownship residents between the ages of 12 and 18 additional opportunities to participate in enjoyable and beneficial activities in a drug and alcohol free environment. Over the past 12 months, the BYC has hosted concerts, movies, dances, sport activites and more at its base of operations, the Brick Civic Plaza. The BYC also hosted special ‘Dinner and a Movie’ nights for senior citizens. On those nights, senior residents are served dinner by our BYC High Schooll Advisors and enjoy the viewing of classic movie.

Global Youth Service Day is the largest service event in the world.
Millions of youth will participate in the 20th Annual Global Youth Service Day on April 25-28, 2008.
The goals of Global Youth Service Day are: a. To MOBILIZE youth to identify and address the needs of their communities through service. b. To SUPPORT youth on a life-long path of service and civic engagement. c. To EDUCATE the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders
On Global Youth Service Day, a public awareness and education campaign that highlights the amazing contributions that young people make to their communities 365 days a year, young people will design and lead service-learning projects in areas ranging from literacy and the environment, to healthcare, hunger, and help for the elderly.
Youth Service America founded Global Youth Service Day in 2000 by adapting the successful model of National and Global Youth Service Day, launched in 1988 in the United States of America. Youth Service America now organizes Global Youth Service Day with the Global Youth Action Network as its key partner and a consortium of international organizations and national coordinating committees. GYSD is an annual global event that highlights and celebrates the contributions of youth to their communities through volunteer service.
During Global Youth Service Day, youth around the world organize community service projects to address local needs. GYSD is held during a weekend every April. In 2008, the event will be held on April 25-27. GYSD is celebrated in over 100 countries in every region of the world.
Two eight-week groups are held for teens ages 13-16 and their parents, facilitated by trained staff. Each 1.5 hour session provides students with help in such areas as active listening, conflict resolution, problem solving, decision making and communication skills.

The Brick Youth Club was formed in 2002 with the support of the Mayor and the Brick Township Council, along with a grant from the Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. The Brick Youth Club is run by a group of high school student advisors who are mentored by B-MAC Coordinator Dan Woska, Jr.
